Homeschool Bouldering Club
Our Homeschool Bouldering Club is a mid day climbing program designed with homeschool families in mind. Climbers ages 6 to 18 meet during the same time block, and we separate participants into age based groups so everyone can learn at the right pace. Each session focuses on movement literacy, confidence building, and positive social connection. A trained instructor guides the group each week and helps kids make steady progress while having fun and staying active.

Our Youth Summer Program at Gravity Bear is designed to inspire confidence, build strength, and spark a lifelong love of movement in a fun, supportive environment. Open to kids and teens* of all skill levels, the program introduces participants to the fundamentals of bouldering through engaging instruction, games, and guided climbing sessions. *(Exceptions to age on a case by case basis)
Experienced coaches teach proper technique, safety awareness, and problem-solving strategies, helping climbers progress at their own pace. Beyond the wall, participants develop teamwork, resilience, and self-confidence as they tackle new challenges and celebrate their achievements.
The program also includes group activities, climbing challenges, and plenty of time for social connection, making it a great way for kids to stay active, make new friends, and try something new over the summer. Whether your child is a first-time climber or already loves the sport, this program offers an exciting and enriching experience they won’t forget!

Solar Flare Bouldering Comp will be a classic redpoint round followed by a finals round for the top six (6) competitors of the open categories. Each climber's top (6) boulders will be scored for their final point total.
Finals will be an “onsight” format. There will be (4) boulders in the round. Each boulder will have 4-point starts, a zone, and a top for scoring. Competitors will have 4-minutes per boulder, and will have a 4-minute rest between boulders. The new USAC scoring system will be used to tally points.

There will be (32) boulders set for the redpoint round. Competitors will have a time limit of (3) hours. Competitors are welcome to try all of the boulders and will be scored based on their top (6) highest scoring boulders. Competitors will sign up in a specific category based on skill level. Categories are: Recreational, Intermediate, Advanced, and Open. Event organizers have the discretion to bump competitors into a higher skill category if it is determined their score represents this.
Boulders will be scored starting at 100pts and will ascend by increments of 100pts all the way to 3200pts for boulder 32.
Boulders must be completed in their entirety to be scored. This means starting the boulder on the designated start hold(s), and finishing by attaining control of the designated finish hold with both hands. After completing a boulder, competitors will need to get a witness signature. Without a witness signature, a boulder will not be scored.
Finals:
Finals will consist of (4) boulders. Each boulder will have a 4-point start, a zone hold(10-pts), and a finish hold(25-pts). Scoring will follow with USA Climbing’s most recent scoring change to align with IFSC scoring. This means that each attempt after the first will reduce the score of the highest achieved scored hold by (0.1pts.)
The finals boulders will be visible during the redpoint round. Finalists will not be allowed to watch other finalists climb and must face away from the wall in their respective staging chairs. There will be an isolation area for the finalists. This area will have the standard fitness equipment, hangboards, Tension blocks, the TB2 and partial access to the Spray wall.
Finalists will have 4-minutes per boulder, and will have the same amount of time to rest between each boulder.
All skill levels are welcome. Bring your best and have fun.
