This one-day course is a practical introduction to setting your own boulder problems! You’ll learn how to plan, set, test, and refine routes with guidance from one of our experienced route setters. This course focuses on creating fun and inclusive climbs for a wide range of abilities in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Perfect for climbers interested in route setting and developing new skills, or anyone curious about how boulder problems are built behind the scenes.
What to expect:
The day will start with introductions and a safety briefing, followed by instruction on attaching holds and setting routes. You'll then test and tweak the routes, ready for public use in the evening.
Your routes will remain on the wall for a week to give you and your friends an opportunity to test them out!
-No prior setting experience required
-Recommended climbing grade: V3, with 6 months+ climbing experience
-Remember to bring climbing shoes, chalk and a brush for testing
-All necessary tools and PPE will be provided
Outcomes:
You'll learn safe setting practices
You'll learn how to place volumes commercially
Setting a lower grade route, equivalent to Highball 0 or 1 Tag
Setting a specific style or technique
Setting a mid-range route, up to Highball 5 Tag
Experience the final testing and tweaking of routes
Your routes will be up for public use for one week
