Interest in climbing has exploded over the years and as climbing gyms are now the leading entry way into the sport, it is important that we do our part to teach best practices to protect access, promote ecological and environmental sustainability, and respect the cultural significance of the natural areas where we recreate.
This section of the class teaches basic LNT practices, encourages climbers to be respectful of other individuals' experience, and to learn the acceptable practices and local ordinances at each and every crag they visit.

A Peak Experiences birthday party is a unique and exciting way to celebrate a special day. It offers active and adventurous experiences that are perfect for kids who enjoy physical and fun-filled activities!
The party kicks off with an introduction to the climbing gym, where trained staff guide participants through the rules of the gym and gear them up with harnesses.
Once everyone is ready, the real adventure begins as guests take to the climbing walls. With a range of routes available, from beginner-friendly to more advanced challenges, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The use of Auto Belays ensures that participants can climb at their own pace, descending whenever they’re ready.
After an exhilarating hour of climbing on Auto Belays, the excitement kicks up a notch as staff members begin to belay climbers on the famous rainbow ladder. This colorful and vibrant ladder is not just a climb but a true test of balance, coordination, and determination. Each level presents a new challenge, getting taller and wobblier as climbers ascend. The cheerful colors of the ladder add an extra layer of fun, making it a favorite attraction for kids and adults alike.
After the climbing session, the celebration continues in a specially decorated party room. It’s the perfect way to cap off a day of adventure, leaving everyone with lasting memories of a truly special birthday celebration!
Ages: Minimum 6 years old
Auto Belays are great tools that allow participants to climb “roped” walls without a human belayer. Instead the climber clips into the auto belay device, which connects to the top of the wall. If the climber falls or finishes the climb, the auto belay slowly lowers the climber to the ground.
Our energetic staff will outfit the group with harnesses, shoes, and help prepare you for an adventurous 2 hours of climbing! Guests/parents not participating in the climbing can watch the climbers, or join in the fun on the climbing floor.
Our group rate is $20 per person, including a harness for each person. Use of the party room is an additional $60, and is only available at our Midlothian location.
Groups must be a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 40 climbers.
Ages 6+. We require 1 auto-belay certified adult for every 5 climbers. Climbers 16 years of age or older can be certified on the auto-belays.
Ages: Minimum 6 years old
Agenda for your Lock-in:
•8:30 PM: Group arrives at Peak Midlothian for check-in and payment
•9:00 PM: Roll call, introductions of Peak staff, rules review
•9:15 PM: Learn the Ropes belay class begins
•11:15 PM Learn the Ropes belay class ends
•11:30 PM: Climbing begins
•5:30 AM: Group wakes up; begins cleaning, and packing of personal items
•6:30 AM: Send off for a great rest of your day!

Richmond's premiere citizens bouldering competition is back after a long summer - the Fall Flash Fest 2024!
As the leaves fall and the crisp air has you reaching for your favorite sweater, get ready to rip it off and climb in the hottest bouldering competition since the Riverrock Boulder Bash! Open to all climbers 16 and older, this competition has a division for you. We've got Recreational if you're just starting out, all the way up to Open for the crushers who spend so much time in the gym, they may as well chip in for the rent. We've even got the Stone Masters for those who've been climbing long enough to remember lycra tights being the norm, so throw that set of hexes back in the closet where they belong and sign on up!
We'll have food trucks on site, community vendors, mini games, beer for sale, and a Finals Showdown to remember! Plus, a prize pool tastier than that first sip of your lunch break PSL topped with a $1000 cash purse. So tell that barista to add a few more pumps of whatever elixer makes it taste like "pumpkin" because if you win this, you'll be rolling deeper than the pile of leaves your dad still can't believe you jumped in... I mean, he did just rake them... we're getting distracted.
