Instruction - Level 3: Gym to Crag Series - Rappelling

Event Details

Description

Not all descents can be lowers.

In this class you'll learn the essentials of how to set-up and navigate a rappel in a controlled, gym-based environment. We'll cover how to clean a sport anchor to rappel, setting up back-ups, and how to rappel with various devices.

No prior rappelling experience is necessary, but participants should be comfortable building a lead anchor with two locking draws. Taking the Gym to Crag Sport Climbing 101 and Anchor classes or having similar experience is strongly encouraged.

This is a 2-3 hour clinic.

Cost: $95 for members | $140 for guests
Max Number of Participants: 4
Additional Notes: While this is a Gym to Crag class, as of now this class will be taught indoors at a Peak Experiences location.
Prerequisites: 16+ years of age. Lead Climb and Belay Certified at Peak Experiences or equivalent knowledge. Comfortable climbing grade 5.7.

This is an introduction to outdoor sport anchors and while it provides a solid foundation of knowledge, it cannot cover every scenario possible. Rock climbing is an inherently dangerous sport and there are more uncontrollable risks outdoors. Please exercise caution, but remember to have fun!

Gear and Rentals

Please bring your harness, belay device, shoes, and any personal climbing gear you would like to incorporate into the class. All outdoor specific gear will be provided for participants.
