Following the NICAS Bouldering (National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme) curriculum, our Junior Club is a termly course that aims to take young climbers from being complete beginners through to being competent and confident climbers.
Participants on this course will work their way through NICAS Bouldering Foundation sessions, include continuing "New Boulderer" and moving onto "Foundation Boulderer". The learning outcomes for Foundation sessions include continuing to learning how to use the walls safely, being able to Understand and use fundamental climbing techniques, and completing some coach and participant selected challenges. Under the guidance of their coaches, young climbers will work through these outcomes at their own pace, and upon completing all of the outcomes, participants will receive a certificate in recognition of their achievements. (Please note: most climbers take longer than one term to complete Level 1, and each subsequent level contains more content and therefore takes longer to complete!)
Participation in our Junior Club course requires registering your child for the NICAS Bouldering scheme (this will be done by our coaches) and the purchase of their NIBAS log book, which we will use to keep track of their progress. This costs £6, which will be collected when you arrive for your first session if you are new to the course.
