Climbing Birthday Parties

The icing on the cake.

Looking for a birthday party that’s active, exciting and seriously fun? Our climbing parties are designed to give kids an unforgettable experience – whether it’s their first time on the wall or they’re already little pros.

Led by friendly, experienced instructors, these sessions are full of climbing, games and laughter – a brilliant way to celebrate in a social and supportive setting.

Want to keep the party going? Many of our centres offer space and food options for post-climb celebrations. You’re welcome to bring your own cake or let us look after the food. Check with your local centre to see what catering options are available when you book.

What to wear
Comfort is key – we recommend non-restrictive clothing like leggings, tracksuits or t-shirts, with comfy trainers or plimsolls. Please avoid anything too loose or baggy. Bring layers you can adjust as you warm up.

Book your party
If you’re booking a birthday party but don’t yet have all participant names, just book for one child (the birthday child) – we’ll ask for the full list later. If you have any questions or special requests, get in touch with your local centre and we’ll be happy to help.

“The instructors were amazing – so friendly and encouraging with all the kids. Everything was really well organised and the children had the best time. We’ll definitely be back!”

These meet-ups are open to anyone aged 16+, and you don’t need any prior climbing experience to join. Each session is hosted by Colour Up members – fellow climbers who are there to support and help you connect with others.

Refugees Rock

Join us in making climbing accessible, inclusive and life-changing.

Refugees Rock is a free weekly coach-led climbing session hosted by The Climbing Academy in partnership with Borderlands and the British Red Cross. Every Thursday at The Mothership, refugees and asylum seekers are invited to climb alongside our coaches, charity staff, and Boulder Buddies—volunteers from the TCA community.

Join us for a session
When: Thursdays, 12pm–1pm, with tea/coffee afterwards
Where: The Mothership, Bristol

What is Refugees Rock?
Refugees Rock is a free climbing club for people fleeing war, persecution, and exploitation. Founded in Liverpool in 2021 by Borderlands, the British Red Cross and The Climbing Hangar, it has since expanded across the UK.

The club brings people together in a welcoming, inclusive space where newcomers to the UK can climb for free with TCA coaches and volunteers. After climbing, participants can enjoy free coffee and connect in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Why does this group exist?
For many refugees and asylum seekers, life in the UK is incredibly difficult. The long wait for Home Office decisions, combined with a meagre allowance and restrictions on work, makes it almost impossible to maintain quality of life – let alone access activities that support physical and mental wellbeing.

At The Climbing Academy, we know how powerful climbing can be in building confidence, resilience and community. Refugees Rock is our way of making climbing accessible to those who need it most.

Being part of a local community group can be life-changing, offering a vital sense of belonging, support and connection. Through climbing, we’re creating a space where everyone is welcome – and where we can all learn from each other.

How can you help?
TCA customers can support Refugees Rock in two key ways:

  1. Donate to support travel costs
Entry is free for participants, but transport can be a barrier. Help us cover bus fares by donating via the buckets at The Mothership.

  2. Volunteer as a Boulder Buddy
No coaching experience needed! Boulder Buddies climb alongside participants, offering a warm welcome and friendly encouragement. It’s about having fun, making connections, and supporting an inclusive community.
