Climbing fun for little ones and their grown-ups
TINY ACADEMY
Tiny Academy is a relaxed and informal bouldering session for parents, carers and children under 5. Whether you’re a regular climber or new to the sport (no prior experience required) this is a great way to get active while introducing little ones to climbing in a fun and supportive environment.
This isn’t an instructed session, but a friendly team member will be on hand to help things run smoothly. They can also assist with childcare, so parents can take turns climbing.
Many of our Tiny Academy parents have met great friends here, finding a supportive space to share the joys and challenges of early parenthood.
Climbing is instinctive for young children, and Tiny Academy lets them explore safely at their own pace. Whether they’re clambering on the mats, taking their first climbing steps, or just soaking up the energy, this session encourages confidence, movement, and fun.
Booking tips: If it's your first time at Tiny Academy, please come early to go through supervision and forms with staff. If you are bringing more than 1 adult and 2 children you may be asked to complete multiple forms.
Please note: Parents remain responsible for their children at all times.
You must include all participants (adults and children) in your booking.
Climbing and yoga go hand-in-hand. Our weekly sessions, led by Wale (@alafiayoga), focus on mobility, strength, and mindfulness – helping you climb better and recover faster. Improve your mobility and recovery with a yoga session designed specifically for the climbing community. These classes focus on the functional movement and flexibility needed to move better on the wall.
Perfect for both climbers and non-climbers, all levels welcome.
Kit: Bring your own mat if you have one, otherwise you can borrow ours for free.
Why Yoga?
Yoga can boost your flexibility, strength, balance, breath control, recovery, and mental focus – all key to better climbing and fewer injuries. Whether you're looking to work on your hip flexibility or just want to decompress after a session, everyone is welcome.
Meet Your Instructor: Wale
Ashtanga yoga is a traditional form of yoga with postures linked together in a sequence called the Primary Series. The class will be a led talk through the sequence but with modifications to make it more specific to climbing. Wale started climbing at The Church in 1996. Old timers might recall him teaching yoga on the mezzanine floor! Wale has been in the yoga world for over 40 years and teaching for over 25. His first teacher training was in Iyengar Yoga with its focus on alignment and precision. Then in Ashtanga yoga with its focus on breath and movement. All these elements can be brought into climbing.
