Spring has officially sprung, and it’s time to pull ourselves out of the winter funk and onto the wall! Join us at Rock Spot Climbing Malden for Pushing Daisies, a high-energy, small-scale bouldering competition designed for the local community.

RSC Community Event - Tie Dye Night

Come Tie-Dye With Us!

Tie-dye a white cotton shirt to send with or just to wear day to day. We recommend picking up one of our new, white, cotton logo shirts which work really well with the dyes and techniques we’ll be using at these events.

For $5 per shirt you'd like to tie-dye, we will provide the materials and basic instruction. Shirts will not be provided. You can either bring a white, 100% cotton shirt of your choice, or you can purchase one of our new shirts in the shop. Remember, members save 10% off all retail in the shop over $5, including these new shirts!

You do not need to purchase access to the facility if you are just tie-dying a shirt, but if you're interested in climbing after the event finishes and you can purchase a discounted day pass at the desk!

While our staff will provide instruction on basic tie-dye techniques, it’s always best to come in with a plan of what you’d like to make. We will provide rubber bands, the dyes listed below set up at separate stations, along with a space to prep your cotton shirt. Please note that if your technique requires any resources beyond the rubber bands we will provide, you will need to bring whatever supplies you require.

Your shirt must be 100% cotton for maximum adherence to the dye.

Finally, it takes time for dyes to fully adhere to the cotton fibers in your shirt so while we will provide bags for you to take your project home, it will be up to you to find a safe place to allow your shirt to soak. 24 hours should be sufficient, but the longer you allow the shirt to sit with the dye, the better the dyes will stick to the fabric, allowing for a brighter, finished product that will last longer after multiple washes.

We will provide instructions to wash your shirt when you feel it’s ready so you can enjoy it around town or at the crag!

The Great Malden Outdoors: Youth Climbing Program

Exclusively for Malden resident family youth in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Every Sunday starting April 26, 2026.

In this indoor program, new climbers will have the opportunity to try the sport of climbing on our boulder walls and learn the fundamentals of the sport before testing their skills on real rock at Waitt's Mount just a mile down the road!

This is an indoor program that will run for 8 weeks every Sunday starting April 26. The final day of the class will be outdoors on Sunday, June 14 at Waitt's Mount with a rain date of Saturday, June 20.

On this final day of the class, we will set up top rope climbs on the rocky cliffs suitable to the participant's skill level and we will continue to provide instruction to ensure all participants have a good time. Families will also be welcome to watch the class, along with this fun event! The best part is this program is only $20 for participants!

This program was made possible in partnership with the Malden Recreation Department, The Great Malden Outdoors Initiative from First Seed Sown and the Massachusetts Office of Outdoor Recreation (MOOR) Grant! Big thanks to them for helping us make the sport accessbile to the Malden community and if you're interested in our other Youth Programs, summer programs, outdoor guiding, scout events, birthdays, membership, and everything climbing related, please learn more on our website, or contact our Gym Manager, Nick at GymManagerMAL@RockSpotClimbing.com or give us a call at (339) 210-5556.

Please note that this program is a more accessible option for families over our traditional after school and weekend youth programs that feature a much lower instructor to participant count, along with a more focused path or progression for young climbers looking to develop their climbing skills.
